Why I am Against Pluto Being A Planet

In the two articles “When Is a Planet Not a Planet” by Daniel Santos and “What Is a Planet” by NASA, the authors discussed if Pluto should be reclassified or not. Many people have opinions on whether Pluto should be a planet or not. In this essay, I will talk about why I strongly believe Pluto should not be classified as a planet.

I strongly believe that Pluto should not be a planet because it does not meet the third criteria. In my source, it states that the third criterion means, “It must have cleared other objects out of the way in its orbital neighborhood.” To clear its neighborhood means a planet must be large enough to pull neighboring objects into the planet itself or sling shot them around the planet and shoot them off into outer space. “The IAU says Pluto does not meet the third criteria but is in a new class called dwarf planets”.  Because of this criterion, I strongly believe that Pluto should be reclassified as a planet.

Another reason I strongly believe that Pluto should not be a planet is because the domino affects it will have. Have you ever heard the acronym to remember the planets: My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nachos. If you have, than think about this. If the IAU decides to reclassify Pluto, than 43 other dwarf planets will become planets. If 44 dwarf planets are classified, than we have to add 44 other words to remember them and that would be hard. The reason is because it is really close to the Kuiper Belt. The Kuiper Belt is a long line in the solar system that has gravity, which pulls lots of rock and ice. Because of this domino effect, I strongly believe Pluto should not be a planet.

In conclusion, After reading the two articles “When Is a Planet Not a Planet” by Daniel Santos and “What Is a Planet” by NASA,. I still strongly believe Pluto should not be reclassified as a planet. I also think the IAU made the right decision on how Pluto should not be a planet because of the effect Pluto will have on our solar system.

My Awesome Week 22

My week 22 was awesome. We did 3 prompts to get ready for the big test. We had another pizza party for Lily. In math we worked on volume. Lastly, we are going to use an app called Story Bot with our reading buddies. In conclusion that is how my week 22 was awesome.

My Epic Week 21

My week 21 was awesome. The reason I am writing now is last week we got some snow so we had a couple of snow days. This week we super hero day I dressed up as bat women. We also had literacy night which is like a book fair. We also stared Haney Court which is where our teacher gives us a partner and we debate with another team if something is good or bad. We also made a song teaching people about punctuating titles. We made some more commercials about super heroes I am bat women in it. In summary this is why my week 21 was so epic!!!!

The Best 20th Week Ever

My 20th week was the best. First,we have a new program where on Friday the PTO provides a healthy snack for our whole school. Next,we had another pizza party because of John Kirby being number 1 in the country for ticket to read.We are also working on songs to teach people about punctuating titles. We also finished our movie trailers for our novels.In a little while we are going to do an obstacle course in the gym with our new reading buddies. I brought our families hover board and let Mr.Haney ride today while he taught. Since John Kirby got number one in the country his mom brought the Bean Boozled challenge I got stinky socks. Lastly I went to a birthday party for Ella. In conclusion that is how my 20th week was so awesome.

My Awesome 19th Week

My 19th week was pretty good. The only bad thing was I was sick for a couple of days. First, we had a 4 day week. We also had a pizza party. Lastly, we got to meet our new reading buddies they are so sweet. In summary that is how my week was awesome.
